Hello! I’m OJ

Your ADHD Life Coach

I’m excited to have you here at ADHD Delta Coaching!

Background

I’m a chemical engineer by training, with a master’s degree in engineering management from The University of Melbourne, Australia. An interest in sustainability through engineering design led me to another master’s degree in environmental engineering, where I picked up on yet another interest in environmental auditing! I’ve spent 14 years in various aspects of HSE compliance, ranging from auditing, researching legislation changes, condensing this information into plain English summaries, and writing. Lots of writing to support compliance with environmental and safety legal requirements. My keen eye for detail has also earned me a spot in the world of quality where I create and maintain policies and procedures, and conduct internal audits against them.

About Me

I’m a wife and mother of two. I have attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (also known as ADHD), and for your information, writing that is freeing!!! I went through all of the above with undiagnosed ADHD, however I always felt something was not quite right with me. I would often tell myself that I am intelligent, but couldn’t comprehend why I struggled so much with working memory - I forgot nouns, adjectives for nouns I had seen, and even verbs describing what the nouns were doing! This made it very difficult for me to partake in certain social and professional settings as it created self doubt. Through this however, I became adept at devising strategies to succeed with my ‘then undiagnosed’ ADHD superpowers of hyperfocus, creativity, problem solving, multi-tasking, resilience, and let’s not forget humour - I love a good laugh!

ADHD Tipping Point

When the demands of family and work life became unbalanced, and hormonal changes began to have a stronger say in my life, I hit what Laurie Dupar (founder of the iACTcenter) calls an ‘ADHD tipping point’. I knew it was time for me to ‘ACT’ and seek help. My action led me first to seeking diagnosis and treatment which happened at age 42, and onwards from there to the International ADHD Coach Training Center (iACTcenter) to formally train as an ADHD Life Coach. I am passionate about spreading the word about ADHD and reducing the stigma that hinders people from seeking the help they deserve to live their best life.
